Black and white LC displays are a little out of fashion. But if you now have some of them in stock, you would like to try them out. So I switched on ScruffR and asked him for help. A short time later the demo of the Adafruit library scrolled over the display.
I do not want to miss giving you information about the interface.
2x 16 PINs are provided on each of the two outer sides: a row of 1-16 (to which our jumpers come) and a row of 17-32 (which do not play a role in our commissioning). These PINs have a 1 mm pitch (= distance) and are therefore not suitable for a breadboard.
So you can solder the jumpers directly and use hot glue to relieve tension or work in my photos with male PINs, which I soldered and then bent. You may also have 1 mm headers.
We use 1-3 and 12-16: a total of 8 PINs. Please refer to the source code for the assignment on the photon.
Although the image section comprises only a part of the display of 128x64 pixels and the elements shown are a little difficult to read, animations and writing can be created. Bitmap converters are available online for this.
