Amazon Echo take human voice commands which prompt requests to the Amazon Web Services cloud. From there, the request is sent and converted to a prompt that can be interpreted by another cloud service, such as Logitech or Lutron. After that, the cloud will then return the request back to the router, at which point the router transfers the signal to the appropriate device. This device will then carry out the request.
Nicholas Browning is 45 years old, but a car wreck at age 17 caused paralysis from the neck down. Prior to the accident, he was an all-star athlete. He was married at age 24 and now has four children. Having hunted turkey, deer, and rabbit to feed his poor family at age 8, he remains a serious hunter today.
Temperature control, especially during night hours, continues to be a major challenge for Nick. While his family members are asleep, he is unable to make adjustments to the fan, heater, electric blanket, regular blanket or clothing; he has to wait patiently for their help.
He also uses a heated suit (jacket+blanket) when hunting in extreme cold. This device has analog temp control, but requires manual control that requires assistance.
We want to give Nick spoken voice control of his jacket and blanket temperature, the fans located in his home, and possibly lighting, as well as the ability to text message to his family and friends... maybe even to tweet :-D.
We plan to engineer Alexa skills combined with Particle Photons to implement the controls described to allow Nick to take control of his comfort and allow time with his family and friends to be more of conversation and communication.
We appreciate any interest and help with our project. Please contact us at Hackster.io or our Charlotte IOT to offer any support. Thank you.
Printing our first prototype is underway!!!
