We created a simple security system to detect if a door is open or closed. People are going to want thus product because it is easy to install and easy to use! This product also takes live data to show how often the door opens and closes. Our solution is novel because it has been tested and it works. We have learned new skills throughout this project through troubleshooting and coding. We also learned how to connect two of these Particles together so they can communicate with each other.
This project consists of two Particle Argon kits. The first is connected to an LED light and grounded to the resistor (pictured above). We connected the light from A1 on the argon to the ground node on the breadboard. We then connected a resistor from the ground node of the breadboard to the ground port of the argon kit. This communicates with the magnetic switch so that the light turns on every time the switch disconnects.
The second Particle Argon is connected to a magnetic switch, which is pictured above. We connected the positive voltage to D7 on the argon, and connected the ground node from the switch to the ground node of the argon kit. When the magnet disconnects from the sensor, the door is registered as open. When the magnet and the sensor are connected, the door reads as closed.
