This project is an evolution of Temperature/humidity monitor with Dweet & Freeboard. I needed a connected sensor for my veranda to automate the opening of a roof blind when it gets too hot, and I took advantage for playing around with the Particle API. So I added a push button, which brings some extra features:
- The Photon regularly reads out temperature and humidity, publishes the data and immediately disconnects from WiFi.
- A button click forces a read out, and daily statistics (max and min values) are published as well. WiFi stays on until the next regular read out: this eases other Photon interactions and/or upgrades from the cloud.
Dweet is used exactly like in the referred project. I just include the timestamp of the readout in each 'dweet' for later processing/archival: a bit of extra coding will make that too - being primarily a software developer, that's the easy part ;-)
Possible evolutions include using the Particle cloud API for acting as remote button, as well as ... calibrating the DHT sensor for humidity, so far the readings are rather inaccurate.
