Generating wind power on Lake Norman could be the next big thing. *I said could*
Either way it would be nice to measure the output and revenue generated with a 300W wind generator mounted on a pier. The weather station can be viewed here for correlation with the generator, KNCMOORE23 Weather Station.
A Control Everything 15A CT current monitor was added and interfaced with a particle photon. The photon takes the measurement, calculates a 60 second maximum power generated, as well as a 10 second running power average. In addition, It calculates the cumulative money saved at $.105 per KWH.
Data is transmitted via wifi from the dock back to the house. An external wifi mag mount antenna was used and attached to the pier floating structure.
This data is published via events, captured with IFTTT, then transmitted to the Wink Nimbus gauge cluster. The nimbus also tells the time. Novel!
The data is also logged on ATOMIOT.com every 60 seconds.
