Things used in this project

Hardware components

Photon
Particle Photon

Adafruit Speaker - 3" Diameter - 4 Ohm 3 Watt
if they are out of stock just go to Amazon
×2
Adafruit Mono 2.5W Class D Audio Amplifier - PAM8302
If they are out of stock just go to Amazon
×2
Adafruit Tactile Button switch
These come in many different sizes and flavors. You could use a different style switch for this but these are very cheap. Also some Sparkfun kits come with a couple of these so check your inventory first.
×2
Gikfun Mini Solder-able Breadboard Gold Plated Finish Proto Board PCB for Arduino Electronic Diy (Pack of 5PCS) GK1009
We used these instead of a breadboard as we wanted to make these as light weight and compact. This comes as a pack of 5.

Hand tools and fabrication machines

Weller WLC100 40-Watt Soldering Station
WYCTIN 60-40 Tin Lead Rosin Core Solder Wire for Electrical Soldering and DIY 0.0236 inches(0.6mm) 0.11lbs
Kester83-1000-0951 951 Soldering Flux Pen Low-Solids, No-Clean 10Ml
Capri wire strippers
If you're into electronics or messing with cars you'll want one of these! I prefer these over the standard 2 in 1 cutter/stripper.

Code

Code for the walkie talkies

You'll want to use the Web IDE to write the code. When you go to "write" the code, there are 4 codes that will need to be copy and pasted into Web IDE. Select the firmware folder, then select, copy and paste the main.ino code. To do addtional subsets, select the little plus symbol to the right in Web IDE. You'll see 2 more pages are addded with cpp and h. Then just do the same for SimpleRingBuffer.cpp/h and SparkIntervalTimer.cpp/h Make sure both Photons have the code loaded and away you go!
